If You Thought Your Love Life Was Complicated, Wait Until You See the Relationships on Deaf U

Alexa meets Braxton during a "wild" phase prior to the filming of Deaf U. She's drawn to him because he's sort of a bad boy; however, she has second thoughts about their relationship. During the first season, she decides to break up with him because their goals in life are too different. After being single for a while, she decides to get back with Braxton because he gives her the attention she desires.

Renate and Tayla met through their sorority, but started dating after Tayla asked if she could kiss Renate. Their's is one of the most functional relationships on the series, although they have their own obstacles to overcome — neither of their families are particularly thrilled about their relationship. A standout moment for the pair comes in the form of a sexy poem Renate dedicates to Tayla during an open mic night.

By the time Deaf U started filming, Alexa and Daequan had already broken up. Probably the most controversial relationship in the group, Alexa confronts Daequan about the fact he had gotten her pregnant on purpose. As a result, she ended up getting an abortion during the previous summer, with no support from Daequan. Their relationship in the series is strained, but they seem to be on OK terms by the time the season one finale.

Although many consider Rodney a "f*ckboy," he likes to consider himself an "*sshole" that'll be loyal once in a relationship. Throughout Deaf U, he tries to get the attention of Cheyenna until she agrees to go on a date with him. Eventually, Cheyenna ghosts him before the pair reconnect on a night out. These two don't end up together as Cheyenna drops out of Gallaudet and Rodney has some unresolved relationship issues with Greta.

The best way to describe Rodney and Alexa's relationship is as friends with benefits. Prior to the filming of Deaf U, the two were hooking up. Then, Alexa started dating Daequan, and the pair were just friends. There's still a flirtation between them; however, due to each of their other potential relationships, they never act on it.

In the opening scene of Deaf U, Daequan signs across to Raelyn's apartment to ask her out on a date. Their date around the Washington mall goes well, and the pair become an item by the end of the series. However, Raelyn plans to move to New York for grad school, leaving the future of their relationship up in the air. Also, Daequan hopes that Raelyn won't ever discover what went down between him and Alexa.

After breaking up with Braxton, the single Alexa is on the hunt for a new man. Dalton and Alexa have a date at the school's pool, although neither makes a move. The pair do hook up at a Halloween party, but the relationship doesn't go much further. Tired of waiting for Dalton to show her attention, Alexa moves on.

When things don't work out with Cheyenna, we see Rodney hooking up with fellow Gallaudet student Greta. It turns out, Greta was also his high school girlfriend and first love. Even when pursuing Cheyenna, Rodney still hooks up with Greta. The couple talk through their situation, although it's not exactly resolved, and we don't know how they leave their relationship.

Zane is a friend of Dalton's that works at the brewery the group frequents. When Dalton gets a job at the brewery, Alexa flirts with Zane in front of Dalton. Realizing Zane likes beer more than he likes her, Alexa doesn't give him much thought.
