The "Suits" Universe Is Expanding Again

Good news, Suitors: a new "Suits" series is finally in the works. Following the show's impressive resurgence since landing on Netflix this summer, creator Aaron Korsh is reportedly working on an "offshoot" with NBCUniversal, according to Deadline. The project is not a reboot or spinoff, but rather a show set in the same legal universe with new characters and a new location.

The original series — starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Meghan Markle, Rick Hoffman, and Sarah Rafferty — had an eight-year run before arriving on Netflix. The show wrapped its final season in 2019, which also marked the premiere of its spinoff, "Pearson." Torres reprised her role as Jessica Pearson in the political drama, highlighting the lawyer's new life in Chicago after leaving New York City. According to sources, the forthcoming offshoot show is considering Los Angeles as a setting option.

"Pearson" and "Suits" previously aired on USA Network, which is under NBCUniversal, but it's unclear whether this new show will follow suit. Other details of the project, including a potential release date and cast, are still scarce. Sadly, chances of the Pearson Specter Litt family returning on screen are slim, though we won't rule out any cameos yet.

The jury is still out on whether a 10th season of "Suits" or full reboot could come to fruition, though it seems unlikely due to the cast's various commitments and deals. (Not to mention, Markle retired from acting upon joining the royal family.) While "Suits" executive producer Gene Klein previously said he hadn't heard "any serious conversations" about a revival during a July interview with TVLine, fans remain hopeful of an onscreen reunion. In late September, viewers even wondered if Adams was dropping hints when he posted a series of since-deleted throwback photos with his former castmates on Instagram.
