The show's writers revealed that season six will not be split into two halves like previous seasons. "It’s not going to be Hyde comes to town, we fight with him for 10 episodes, and then in the winter finale, he dies and we move on," Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly. "We are changing around what we’re doing this year and going back to that season one mentality of small town stories and smaller arcs."
That being said, there will be a few throwbacks to the show's main themes. Not only will the main focus be on the core group of characters, but Horowitz told The Hollywood Reporter that next season will feature "something old and something new."
