If Steve Rogers dies, it will be a devastating loss for the MCU. And honestly, he seems like the kind of guy to sacrifice himself. His death would certainly impact the Avengers, especially since he's proven himself to have loyal friends like Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Falcon, Black Widow, and Bucky Barnes on his side in Captain America: Civil War. In fact, Captain America was supposed to die after Civil War in the comics.
In the second trailer of Infinity War, the scruffy hero pushes against Thanos's gauntlet with all his mighty force. This hints at trouble for Captain America. Actor Chris Evans confirmed that Avengers 4 will be his last Avengers project. Even then, he could just be part of a flashback sequence as opposed to being there in present time. Or, somehow, Doctor Strange uses his green Time Stone to retrieve (and possibly revive) the superhero.
Many fans are convinced that either Steve Rogers or Tony Stark will die in Infinity War. Robert Downey Jr. has been vocal about wanting to hang up his post as Tony Stark. There are theories out there that propose that he'll either die sacrificing his life for Peter Parker, with whom he shares a fatherly bond, or for Captain America, who he still needs to forgive. But here's why I think Iron Man will make it out of the film alive. MCU started with Iron Man in 2008, so it would be a bittersweet, full-circle gesture to end with Iron Man's death, which is why I think he will end his story in Avengers 4 as opposed to Infinity War. Even then, I'm rooting for him to happily retire with Pepper Potts and enjoy his good tech money.
