At last, after a nearly two-year hiatus away from our TV screens, Starz's "Run the World" is finally returning for season two this spring. The premium network announced the big news on Feb. 15, along with first-look photos of the upcoming season — which will see Amber Stevens West, Bresha Webb, and Corbin Reid return as 30-something best friends Whitney, Renee, and Sondi living and thriving in their Harlem element.
Per Starz, season two will continue to "focus on the bonds of friendship and power of Black sisterhood as the ladies fashionably navigate through the ups and downs of love and careers in their pursuit of world domination." Picking up where last season left off, viewers will see how Whitney navigates her "road of self-discovery" as she chooses to pursue a life with or without her fiancé, Ola, as well as Renee and Sondi's next chapters as they decide what they want out of love, life, and their careers.
"Run the World" debuted its first season in May 2021 and earned its season two renewal three months later, with Rachelle Williams coming in as the new showrunner to take over for Yvette Lee Bowser ("Living Single"). Bowser and Leigh Davenport will still serve as executive producers. "'Run the World' has been so passionately embraced by our audience and we are thrilled to bring fans another season," Alison Hoffman, president of domestic networks for Starz, told Deadline in a statement at the time. "Our incredibly talented cast and executive producers Yvette and Leigh are set to return, and we're excited to welcome Rachelle back into the Starz family leading as showrunner and executive producer."
