We finally have a look at the third season of USA's The Sinner, and it's obvious that Detective Harry Ambrose will have his hands full. According to the official logline, the third installment of the series follows Ambrose (Bill Pullman) as he dives into the investigation of a tragic car accident. Just like the mysteries of the previous two seasons, Ambrose will find himself unfolding a story that pulls him into "the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career."
Matt Bomer, who returns to the USA Network five years after wrapping his breakout series White Collar, stars as Jamie, "an upstanding Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Ambrose for support in the wake of an accident." From his actions in the brief teaser, he definitely has something to share about his part in the wreckage. The real question is whether Jamie will turn out to be a victim or the culprit of whatever is going on.
Season three will also feature Sharp Objects' Chris Messina as Nick Haas, a college friend who pays Jamie a surprise visit; Parisa Fitz-Henley (Midnight, Texas) as Jamie's wife, Leela Burns; Jessica Hecht (Special) as Sonya, a painter who gets involved in the investigation after the accident occurs on her property; and Eddie Martinez (Orange Is the New Black) as Vic Soto, a detective who works alongside Ambrose to solve the case.
One thing the teaser does reveal is that fans are going to have to wait for the third installment; the crime anthology's third season has been pushed back to premiere sometime in 2020. In the meantime, watch the trailer above and see if you can sift out any clues for the upcoming season!
