Why You Should Take Kids to the Live Action Aladdin 2019
Aladdin Was My Go-To Movie as a Kid — Here’s Why I Loved the New One
I was a toddler when the animated Aladdin came out in theaters, and as I grew up, it was one of my "Play it again, Mom!" movies (which was totally more annoying back then, because it involved rewinding a VHS, not simply pushing play again — sorry, Mom). Because I have so much love for the animated movie, and especially because Robin Williams is my favorite actor of all time, I was a little skeptical walking into the theater to see the live-action reboot. Would it live up to my high expectations? Would Will Smith do Robin Williams's Genie justice? Would a lot be changed from the original?
I'm here to report, that after sitting in front of the new Aladdin for two hours and eight minutes, I'm officially obsessed with it. If you grew up with the animated classic as well, here are the four reasons you need to see the new one — which is out now! — with your kids.
1 It brings the animated movie to life in the most magical way.
2 Though a little different, the core of the film is still the same.
3 Will Smith totally rocks it as the Genie.
4 There are a few new characters to love (and a bit more girl power!).
