The Most Popular Baby Names of 2020

The Top 20 Baby Names of the Year So Far Feature a Few Newcomers Compared to Past Years

Every year, Names.org has made predictions for the top baby names of the year, and every year, they get pretty damn close to 100 percent accuracy. For example, in 2018, they correctly predicted nine out of the 10 top names for boys and 10 out of 10 for girls compared to the Social Security Administration (SSA)'s official lists.

Although the SSA's top names data for 2019 has yet to be officially released, meaning that Names.org can't compare its picks from last year to the actual numbers just yet, it already feels certain of the most popular names for 2020 based on the number of births in recent years and the names given to those babies.

Keep scrolling to see Names.org's top baby names of 2020 so far.

Other Contenders For the Most Popular Baby Names of 2020

As mentioned, in 2018, Names.org accurately guessed 19 of the top 20 names for the year. Because the site knows that there's room for error, it's considering that there are other popular names hovering just below the above names that could potentially steal one of the top 10 spots by the end of 2020.

"Sebastian is just outside the top 10 and is rising in popularity. Look for Sebastian in the top 10 list in the coming years," Names.org reports. "Mason, Ethan, Logan, Michael, and Daniel also fall just short of the top 10, but they are declining in popularity." As for girls? "Luna, Camila, and Aria are just outside the top 10 and are rising in popularity. Look for these names in the top 10 list in the coming years. Evelyn, Abigail, and Ella also fall just short of the top 10, but they are declining in popularity."

Only time will tell, but keeping past years' data in mind, these lists look pretty good to us!
