  1. Twins begin to interact early in the second trimester: Twins have been documented intentionally interacting with one another as early as 14 weeks into a pregnancy — their special bond begins as fetuses!
  2. Moms of twins tend to be taller: The link between tall women and twin births may be connected to an insulin growth factor that increases ovulation.
  3. Central Africa has the highest birthrate of twins: Benin, a country in central Africa, sees more than 27 twin births per 1000 live births. Wow!
  4. Twins can be mirror images of one another: If identical twins develop facing one another, they may grow into mirror images. This could explain birthmarks on opposite sides, opposite handedness, and more.
