Age ain't nothing but a number, and 78-year-old Shirley Webb is living proof. Seeing Shirley deadlift 225 pounds in the video above, it's hard to believe that she couldn't even climb stairs or get herself off the ground without aid before joining a gym. The elderly badass began her fitness journey two years ago at Club Fitness in Wood River, IL, and has come a long way since.
With the help of her trainer, John Wright, Shirley was able to lift 200 pounds six months into their training. She's even set the deadlift record in Illinois for 237 pounds and also in Missouri for 215 pounds. Shirley — who frequents the gym at least twice a week — doesn't plan on slowing down when she turns 79 in August. "I have no intention of stopping right now," she told espnW. "When I go to the gym and work out, when I leave, I feel so much better than I did when I went in, and I just feel so good. I feel tremendous."
