Venus Williams Wants You to Feel Like You "Can Take on the World" in New Flashes Collection

Venus Williams has won seven Grand Slam singles titles in her career spanning over two decades — and, in 2002, she became the first black tennis player to earn a No. 1 ranking. Aside from tennis, she's learned that her off-court passion is fashion and design, which led her to create her activewear company, EleVen, in 2012. The 39-year-old told POPSUGAR via email, "I always try and push myself to do and be the best that I can be in every aspect of my life. Whether I am on the court, designing the next EleVen collection, or spending time with my family, I try to be better every day."

Venus's newest collection for EleVen, Flashes, is all about embracing your sense of bold, whatever that may be, which is why she wanted there to be pops of blue that bring an element of excitement to workouts. Venus launched her Phoenix collection this Summer and said it was "inspired by the mythological bird that represents renewal, as I wanted to design something that celebrated a new season." The Flashes collection, she explained, "continues this energy through the bold print and pops of color to keep us all motivated as the seasons change and temperatures drop." Whether you're headed to yoga or hitting an indoor cycling class, these pieces are meant to flow with you and keep you on your game.

Flashes features tennis skirts, jackets, tanks, short- and long-sleeved tees, and more with four-way stretch material as well as EleVen Ozone for protection against UVA and UVB rays (because even though we're transitioning into Fall, proper cover from the sun shouldn't be overlooked!). The clothes also promise to be quick-dry and breathable, and prices range from $29 to $109.

When asked what she wants a person wearing EleVen, especially the new Flashes collection, to feel, Venus said, "I want her to feel like she can rule the world. I love wearing Flashes because the energy empowers me — the print and color match up with the intensity of my workouts." With EleVen, Venus gets to infuse her "passion for advocating for self-expression and individuality" into her designs. The company, she said, is built on the idea "that you gotta be better than your best and keep pushing, and I want women to feel empowered when they put on my collection, like they are an 11 out of 10 and can take on the world."

Being empowered to do your best is something Venus and her sister, Serena Williams, the holder of 23 Grand Slam singles titles, tell each other when conquering challenges in tennis and everyday life. "On and off the court, we've always encouraged each other to do the best that we can, and in the end, that will always be enough!" Venus said.
