Anderson Cooper Tribute to Orlando Victims

Anderson Cooper's Tribute to the Orlando Victims Is Incredibly Heartbreaking to Watch

Since the mass shooting on Sunday in Orlando, FL, people everywhere are taking a moment to remember the victims in a special way. For some, it meant donating blood or attending a vigil. Anderson Cooper took the time during his broadcast on Monday night to share small anecdotes and photos of the victims. In this segment, Cooper fights back emotion and tears as he reads their names — especially when it comes to victims who were incredibly young. "We begin tonight with their names," said Cooper. "They are more than a list of names. They were people who loved and were loved." As you'll hear, reciting the names and stories of the victims was not an easy task for Cooper to do, especially considering that he himself is gay. It's a hard clip to watch but one that accurately captures how we all feel after this tragedy — heartbroken and at a loss for words. Watch the entire segment and learn a little about more about the people who lost their lives that day.

Cooper also isn't ending his quest for some justice for these victims at telling their stories. The CNN anchor repeatedly questioned Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi about her previous views on the LGBT community on Tuesday. Cooper asked her again and again if she thinks it's OK to "portray yourself as a champion of the gay community." It's very clear that Cooper will not let his coverage of the Orlando shooting lose sight that it was an attack on LGBT people.
