Former Governor of Massachusetts William "Bill" Weld announced his candidacy against President Trump in April 2019. As a "social liberal," he endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 and was the running mate to Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson in the 2016 election. Weld opposes Trump's immigration policy, despite the fact that the Republican party largely supports it. He also plans to fight climate change and is pro-choice and pro-gay rights.
