Sure, you need to switch out your toothbrush every three months, but you also need to sterilize it at least once a week as well. Fill a container with hydrogen peroxide. You want the peroxide high enough to cover the head of the brush. Then soak the toothbrush for three minutes. Rinse with water, shake dry to get the excess water off, then let it air dry.
