Goddess Bath Rituals Are My Ultimate Form of Self-Care — Here's How They Helped Me Manifest My Goals

In the middle of 2020, which was also finals week for most of my fellow college students, everyone I knew was really feeling the weight of the pandemic, including me. Glued to my couch at home, my online classes were becoming draining, and I started to feel consumed with anxiety for the future. Spending less time with my friends in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus to my loved ones and other family members, I started to feel out of touch with myself. I was overwhelmed with work, worry, and caught up in my own thoughts on what the rest of my life was going to look like.

To push myself out of this funk, I tried my traditional self-care rituals like journaling, face masks, and talking virtually with friends, but it wasn't enough. My mental health was taking a turn for the worst, and I felt untethered. I needed another way to help me center myself and bring inner peace amongst the turmoil surrounding me. While scrolling mindlessly on Instagram one day, I came across a picture from my favorite content creator Anaya Ivy. It was the most relaxing bath picture I had ever seen with rose petals, candles, sage, and essential oils. After reading Anaya's caption, I learned that she was taking a goddess bath for the new moon, and I knew immediately that I had to try one.

What Is a New Moon Bath?

Goddess bath rituals are intimate, spiritual baths that are curated with special herbs, flowers, and essential oils. When it's a new moon bath, you take it when a full or new moon is happening to celebrate the fact that the moon's cycles often align with us, which helps connect us more to nature, our emotions, and our desires for the future. Because the moon controls the tides and we, as humans, are made up of 60 percent water, the moon's power can affect us as well.

Aside from being incredibly luxurious, these baths also aim to make you feel more confident, motivated, and at peace. Essentially, you're cleansing yourself both physically and spiritually by letting go of what no longer serves you as the water washes over you and drains away, which then creates space for new opportunities. In the spirit of 2021 having better days ahead, preparing my own goddess baths has helped me manifest my goals.

How to Prepare Your Own New Moon Bath

Before taking new moon baths, I never paid attention to spiritual practices related to astrology like birth charts, new moon dates, and crystals. It seemed trivial to me, but in the midst of a pandemic, I was open to trying this new form of self-care.

Taking my first new moon goddess bath was nothing short of a transformation for my confidence, my goals, and my mindset. To prepare, I researched when the next full or new moon would take place and cleaned my home in preparation. Cleaning my house was important because it was hard to manifest in a cluttered, unorganized space. Next, on the night of the moon cycle, I gathered all of my favorite bath materials, like my journal, candles, fresh flowers, and some essential oils. These materials helped set the tone of my goddess bath ritual and allowed me to have a nice ambiance to help invite love, abundance, and positivity into my life.

While in the bath, I felt like someone hit the reset button on my life. All my prior feelings of anxiety, worry, and sadness started to wash away as I wrote down what I saw for myself in the new month and year ahead. When writing my manifestations, I wrote them in the present tense (not grammatically correct for good reason), as if my goals had already happened. I wrote in detail, expressing gratitude and thankfulness for the new blessings in my life.

Final Thoughts

That first new moon bath was almost a year ago, and I've taken many more since then. After that first bath, I instantly started to feel more like my old self again, and over the course of the past year, I have been achieving my goals. My manifestations became my reality, as I got my driver's license, made the dean's list for the spring semester, and got an internship.

After the whirlwind of 2020, it's so important for me to prioritize self-care. Goddess baths have become my new favorite self-care ritual as they help nurture my mind, body, and spirit.
