My favorite Summer evening makeup look is glistening, bronze skin matched with a simple shimmery eyelid, loads of black mascara, and a luxe lip balm. It's the ideal way to appear effortlessly gorgeous and show off your tan (even if it's faux, like mine!). Nars just released six mesmerizing, metallic eye shadows to achieve this look. And if you're more of a wild child when it comes to makeup, you can definitely layer the glittery shades to get an intense galactic or mermaid effect.

The new line is dubbed the Hardwired Eye Shadow Collection, featuring a brand-new formula from Nars. The texture of the shades feels creamy (like a pressed pigment), and it can be applied wet or dry. Each contains micro yet visible sparkles. Yet they are not at all like cheesy '80s eye shadow as the particles have a modern iridescent shine. The fine powder mixes unexpected combos in an of-the-moment way, such as a rose-gold base with blue and green glimmer. It's also longwear, which I can attest to since I have been rocking them throughout NYC's heat wave, and they haven't budged in the humidity.

To get the scoop, I email interviewed Nars makeup artist Niko Lopez. "This exclusive formula glides on like a cream, making it super flexible for any look," he said. "Dip the brush in water and mix in with the eye shadow for a gilded effect or dust the shadow across your cheek bones for a glistening highlight. My favorite shade for this technique is Earthshine."

I also had to know exactly how he would apply these (because as you can see, he's pretty talented at applying makeup). "For a super long-wearing metallic eye without the fall out, simply mix NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base with Stud, Pygar, or Parallax on your fingertip and glide across your lids," he explained. "Doing so, you've created a longwear, high-impact cream eye shadow. No need to create a base or set with powder. You can also try mixing Lunar with your favorite lip gloss for a glittering pout."
