Alton Brown on Stephen Colbert November 2016

Watch Alton Brown Make the Weirdest Ice Cream You've Ever Seen in Just 10 Seconds

Alton Brown stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote his Broadway show Eat Your Science, and things got . . . interesting. In true Alton Brown style, the Food Network host promised to make something delicious, but in the least traditional, most scientific way. Using a giant homemade machine (Alton's DIY ice cream maker) with fire extinguishers attached to either side, Alton makes a "miracle dessert" — carbonated pumpkin spice latte ice cream. "I freaking hate pumpkin spice latte. But I'm going to make an ice cream out of it, which I hope will make it better," Alton said of the flavor choice. The pumpkin spice ice cream mixture goes into a fire extinguisher, which is then fired into a "freezing chamber," while at the same time a CO2 fire extinguisher is activated, creating a gallon of ice cream in just 10 seconds. Confused? Watch the video to see how it works for yourself, and see Stephen's reaction as he tastes the final product.
