There's a sweet message behind Demi Lovato's newest tattoo. The "Sorry Not Sorry" singer revealed via her Instagram Story on Wednesday that she recently got some new ink to honor her late dog Buddy, who passed away back in 2015. "Thank you @_dr_woo for the incredible portrait of my late angel buddy," she captioned the photo. "RIP @demisbuddy. I will love you forever and never forget you." The tattoo, which is placed right above the arch on her foot, features a drawing of the white maltipoo's face next to the words, "Buddy was here."
Lovato shared Buddy with her ex-boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, and she frequently took to Instagram to post cute photos of herself snuggling Buddy before announcing his passing to her Twitter followers in July 2015. "We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday," she wrote. "He was taken from us way too soon in a tragic accident and though I will never know why this had to happen, I do know that God only puts us through situations that we can handle so with that, together we our staying strong." According to TMZ, Buddy was attacked by a coyote in the backyard of Lovato's home in Los Angeles. See more photos of the singer and Buddy ahead.
