It's not always easy seeing celebrity couples break up. But as much as we root for them, sometimes things just don't work out. We saw it happen last year with Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, as well as Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott, and 2020 has already had its fair share of splits. From Katie Cassidy and Matthew Rodgers to Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler, see which pairs have decided to end their romance so far this year.
Rihanna and Hassan Jameel
In January, Us Weekly reported that Rihanna and Hassan, who were first linked in June 2017, decided to part ways.
Trace Cyrus and Taylor Lauren Sanders
In January, Miley Cyrus's older brother, Trace, revealed he and Taylor broke off their engagement. In a New Year's post, the Metro Station musician shared, "I'm recently single & extremely thankful to have my family around me during this time." Before their breakup, Trace and Taylor announced their plans to wed in December 2018.
Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul
Following their highly publicized Las Vegas wedding in July 2019, Jake and Tana decided to part ways at the beginning of the new year. The YouTube stars both announced the split on their respective Instagram accounts. "It's best for us to focus on our lives & see what the future holds," Jake wrote. Meanwhile, Tana addressed the news, saying, "For right now we both are taking a break . . . This is coming from a place of nothing but love."
Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler
The longtime couple, who first got together in 2011, reportedly called it quits. According to Us Weekly, the couple broke up in January, and the 31-year-old actress "has been telling those close to her about" it.
Kaia Gerber and Pete Davidson
After three months of dating, Kaia and Pete have reportedly split. According to E! News, Pete is "taking a break to work on his mental health."
Lana Del Rey and Sean Larkin
In March, the singer and the Live PD star called it quits after six months of dating. "Right now, we're just friends," Sean told The New York Times. "We still talk and whatnot, we just have busy schedules right now."

Ne-Yo and Crystal Smith
After four years of marriage, Ne-Yo and Crystal announced their separation in February. "Slowly but surely it's becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce," Ne-Yo said in an interview. "It's not a sad thing . . . long story short, I'm never gonna talk bad about her; I'm not that person. There's nothing bad to say about her; she's a fantastic woman. She's the mother of my children. She's always gonna be that, and I will always respect her."
Madelaine Petsch and Travis Mills
The duo broke up after three years of dating in February. "I've had to accept there's no possible way to capture a love of this scale or its significance to me, in a few paragraphs," Travis wrote on Instagram. "That said, I'll try, because so many of you supported us over the years like a family would." He then added how difficult dating in the spotlight can be as "red carpets, parties, photoshoots, TV etc create this alternate reality" where he and Madelaine are "one-dimensional people."
Jesse Metcalfe and Cara Santana
The pair ended their engagement of nearly four years in January. It's unclear what happened.
Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo
Lena and Alana split two months after announcing their marriage in January. "After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," they said in a statement to People. "We have nothing but support for one another and ask that you respect our privacy during this time."
