Gabrielle Union Teaches Her Daughter Kaavia How to Ride a Bike: "It's on Now!"

The training wheels are coming off (eventually)! On Thursday, Gabrielle Union shared a video of her 3-year-old daughter, Kaavia James, learning how to ride a bike for the very first time. In a clip shared to Kaavia's Instagram page, Union urges her daughter forward, watching her pedal a pastel-pink bicycle across the patio. Kaavia starts slowly at first, and then, with her mother's encouragement, surges into hyper speed as text reading "mommy I got this" appears across the screen.

"Picture me rollin. It's on now!!" the caption on the post reads. "Whatchall want from the store, I'm about to make a run real quick." As she learns to put the pedal to the metal, Kaavia wears a pink shirt to match her bike, complete with matching training wheels and streamers on the handlebars.

Together, Union and Dwyane Wade are parents to Kaavia (3), Xavier (8), Zaya (15), and Zaire (20). Wade was also awarded full custody of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, who is 21. But as Wade said in an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," despite being the youngest in a big, blended family, Kaavia has a personality all her own. "She has her own swag and personality," he said. "Through the pandemic she kept all of us going and having something to look forward to."

In addition to bike riding, Union has also been working with Kaavia on self-love, posting a video where she tells her daughter that her hair is beautiful. "Teaching @kaaviajames to love every part of herself is a full time job with no days off but I approach it as an act of love," Union wrote on her Instagram. "I want Kaav to feel beautiful and powerful in EVERY room she walks into no matter who is standing next to her," she continued.

Stay tuned to see what other lessons Union has in store for her daughter.
