Fitness With a Cause: Where to Buy Workout Gear in Support of Pride Month

This June marks the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which gave rise to Pride Month. There are tons of ways you can help support the LGBTQ+ community during June and every month thereafter: for one, you can donate to a charity working to promote equality, eliminate discrimination, and provide people under the LGBTQ+ umbrella with resources for health care and education. You can also show your support by attending Pride celebrations (like a Pride Parade in your city!).
You can send a message with your apparel and your dollars, too. Brands like Nike, Adidas, and Reebok have launched Pride-themed workout clothes and gear with something extra: proceeds are being donated to various LGBTQ+ organizations. 1 Nike: BETRUE Collection
Since 2012, Nike has come out with a BETRUE collection in honor of Pride Month every year. The 2019 BETRUE Collection features shoes, apparel, and gear adorned with the eight original colors of the Pride Flag in recognition of the 40 years since political activist Gilbert Baker debuted his rainbow design at the 1979 San Francisco Pride Parade. This particular shirt is the Nike BETRUE Unisex Tank ($35).
The 2019 launch coincides with Nike's commitment to rewarding over 20 LGBTQ+ organizations with grants administered by the Charities Aid Foundation of America (read more about that here). Grant recipients this year include the National Gay Basketball Association and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Plus, check out a sneak peak of more rainbow shoe styles coming out later this month.

2 Under Armour: United We Win
For the United We Win collection, Under Armour teamed up with Athlete Ally, an organization devoted to enabling sports environments that are LGBTQ+ inclusive and free of homophobia and transphobia. These UA Hovr Slk Evo x Pride Sneakers ($120) were specifically launched to support the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, and since last year's UA Pride Collection, Under Armour has pledged to help give financial and strategic support to Athlete Ally.

3 ASOS: ASOS Design x GLAAD
This is the third launch of ASOS Design x GLAAD. One-hundred percent of the net profit made from this collection will go directly to GLAAD, an organization focused on LGBTQ+ media advocacy (meaning, it works to start global conversations and ensure that the media depicts LGBTQ+ stories fairly and inclusively and covers important LGBTQ+ issues). The collection includes clothes printed with the words "unity," "equality," and "acceptance" as well as graphics in support of GLAAD's & movement — like this Unisex Cropped Sweatshirt ($48).

4 Parks Project: National Parks Are For Lovers Pride Tee
In honor of Pride Month, Parks Project is selling a limited-edition National Parks Are For Lovers Tee ($36). Ten percent of each sale is donated to Christopher Park Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to preserving the Stonewall National Monument.
5 Reebok: Pride Collection
Through June 30, Reebok will donate up to $50,000 in proceeds from the Reebok Pride Collection to Fenway Health, a Boston-based non-profit providing high-quality healthcare services to the LGBTQ+ community. The collection features athletic tees, shoes, and this Pride Rainbow Storm Headband ($16).

6 Adidas: Pride Collection
Adidas is donating $250,000 to LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention organization The Trevor Project. To coincide with this, the brand released a 2019 Pride Collection advertised as apparel and accessories — like these Own the Run Pride Shorts ($35) — you can wear to parades, during your workouts, and more.

7 Y7 Studio: Y7 x American Tye Dye Tees
Y7 Studio, a chain of edgy, Vinyasa-style yoga facilities on the East and West Coasts, partnered up with American Tye Dye and New York-based artist Baron Von Fancy to create two limited-edition Pride tees. Each tee, the Y7 Studio website reads, "is a little different, just like you," and 20 percent of sales will be donated to The LGBT Centers of New York and LA.
