When it comes to weight loss, many people think they need to eat smaller meals, but dietitian Paula Norris took to Instagram to prove that you can fill up your plate and still shed pounds. In her post, she compares two plates of tacos. Both contain ground beef, tomatoes, corn, avocado, and cheese, but one plate clocks in at 1060 calories while the other is just 420 calories.
The 420-calorie meal swaps in three small soft shell tacos for three large lettuce leaves. The lower-calorie option also uses 10 grams of Parmesan cheese instead of 40 grams of full-fat cheddar cheese, and half the amount of avocado. Although both are made with ground beef, the lower-calorie plate uses extra lean meat.
"The bulk of these meals is pretty much the same, so both will be equally filling," Norris writes in her caption. "This is important because satiety is one of the major challenges when trying to lose weight and many people think they need to eat smaller meals. This is simply not necessary!"
The plate on the right may have fewer calories, but it's still made with filling, nutrient-dense ingredients. Plus, the combination of protein, fat, and carbs will keep you feeling full and satisfied.
