Who Is Lindsey Vonn?

7 Must-Know Facts About Downhill Skier Lindsey Vonn

The 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, are finally here, and there's lots to watch. Adorable snowboarder Chloe Kim has us all interested, and Jessie Diggins — gold-medaling cross-country skier — still has our heart.

But while the Winter Olympics offer fast and thick viewing, Lindsey Vonn is still capturing imaginations and Olympic hopes across America. Before you make the popcorn and watch her ski down those slopes, here are seven things to know about her.

Lindsey Is a Big Fan of Her Grandpa

This year at Pyeongchang, Lindsey will be skiing in memory of her late grandfather, whom she still talks about missing on her Instagram.

She Earned Both Olympic Medals at the Same Games

Once Olympians have been competing for a while, it's easy to lose track of their wins. While Vonn has qualified for four Olympics so far, including the upcoming Winter Games, she earned both her Olympic medals at the 2010 Games. She has a gold medal in the downhill event and a bronze in the super-G.

She Began Skiing at Age 2

Skiing at age 2? While that's about as cute as it comes, most parents might wait a little longer before putting their little ones on skis. Luckily for Lindsey, though — and the world — not hers!

She Is One of Five Children

Lindsey Vonn might seem like a goddess, but she was a family girl first. She has two brothers and two sisters and grew up taking 16-hour car drives from her native Minnesota to Vail, CO. As Red Bull reports, one of her sisters and her two brothers are triplets. (Starting to look like her parents deserve a gold medal too.)

Her Workouts Are Intense

If you're willing to put in the work in the gym, you could probably take home the gold too — but almost no one has that kind of stamina. Lindsey, our hat is off to you.

Lindsey Guest Starred on Law and Order in Its Final Days

Devastated to discover that Law and Order was going to be canceled, Lindsey's one comfort was that she was invited to guest star on the show — on, as it turns out, the series finale, where she played a teaching assistant. Way to go out strong!
