In my opinion, there are few artists who can express the highs and lows of love, breakups, and finding your purpose and peace of mind as perfectly as Jhené Aiko does. (Not to mention her voice is mesmerizing.) I've connected to her music on every level — from wanting her beautiful love song "New Balance" to be played at my wedding to listening to "Triggered (freestyle)" on repeat after ending relationships.
Jhené just released a six-minute meditation single, "Trigger Protection Mantra," and to call it soothing would be an understatement. On her Instagram, she explained that this mantra is "for relaxation purposes" and recommends listening to it with headphones to get the full effect of the mantra.
Lately, I've been trying to meditate more to calm my mind and relax — if I manage to sit still for 10 minutes and not get distracted every 30 seconds, I feel like I've won a Nobel Prize. I've listened to Jhené's "Trigger Protection Mantra" three times now, and it is beyond relaxing.
"Calm down, calm down, calm down, eventually," she recites in her soft, comforting voice. The pace is slow enough to calm my overactive mind and helps me focus on taking full, deep breaths. I also like that the mantra isn't telling me what to think about or how to breathe and is simply helping me relax and decompress.
If you are trying to get into meditation or just need to take a moment to relax, listen to Jhené's meditation mantra and see if it helps calm your mind.
