Mixing scotch and tequila may not sound like a great idea, but Herradura's new limited-edition 2014 Scotch Cask Finish Reposado ($90) is actually kind of genius. The Jalisco, Mexico-based brand further aged its reposado tequila in scotch barrels sourced from Scotland for three months — with surprisingly delicious results. We sipped it and were blown away by how well the depth and spice of the tequila paired with the vanilla and wood-smoke notes of the scotch barrels. Now this is the kind of international incident we can get behind.

I'm not exactly the sentimental sort, but when I learned that one of my favorite bloggers, Not Without Salt's Ashley Rodriguez, was expanding her Dating My Husband series into a cookbook: Date Night In: More Than 120 Recipes to Nourish Your Relationship ($23), I instantly preordered a copy. Inventive recipes are organized into menus ranging from the low fuss to the more involved. I can think of no better gift to yourself (and your relationship) come Valentine's Day.

Fine-art photographer Gray Malin has partnered with boutique chocolate company Compartés to bring us candy bars that are just as pretty as they are delicious. White-chocolate-lovers will go crazy for the butterscotch and sprinkle bar called Beach Sprinkles, while milk-chocolate fiends will obsess over the crunchy Sweet Sea — yes, it has waffle-cone bits in it. I'm excited to hand these chocolate-bar gift sets ($28) out to my friends.
