Selfie Hat

This Selfie Hat Is the Worst Thing to Happen to Wearable Tech

Our worst wearable-tech nightmare just came true: a giant selfie hat with a tablet hanging off the side for photo opps. Who could pull this off? No one, except for maybe Lady Gaga.

The glittery, pompous techie headwear is part of a collaboration between the designer Christian Cowan-Sanluis and Acer to promote its Iconia A1-840 tablet. You can't buy the selfie hat, but you will see it walk down the Christian Cowan-Sanluis runway during London Fashion Week. What you can buy is a similar tablet case with a hat on it that will be sold in limited quantities.

All this is just another sign of our generation's obsession with selfies (which we were already not OK with). What's important to remember though is that the high-fashion world is capable of making beautiful gadgets, as evidenced by these Opening Ceremony and Rebecca Minkoff smart bracelets.

Is this selfie hat a step in the wrong direction for wearables? Let us know your thoughts in the poll.
