7 Sweet Times Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Gave Us Hints About Babies

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they were expecting their first child on Oct. 15, immediately causing mass excitement. While rumors had been circulating for quite some time — Meghan's outfit at Princess Eugenie's wedding didn't help — Kensington Palace officially broke the news on Monday morning, just a day after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Australia for the start of their 16-day tour.

As we patiently wait for the arrival of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis's new little cousin (who will be here sooner than you might think), we decided to look back on all the sweet times Meghan and Harry have spoken about having children. From throwing it back to 2015, when Prince Harry explained that his "time will come," to the couple answering pressing fan questions about family size, here are all the sweet times the duke and duchess have spoken about having a family.

During their first interview as an engaged couple, BBC reporter Mishal Husain asked the very straightforward "children?" question, to which Harry jokingly replied: "Not currently, no, but I think eventually, one step at a time, and we'll start a family in the near future."

In an interview with Best Health Canada via Harper's Bazaar in April 2016, Meghan explained that becoming a mom was on her "bucket list," before adding that "I can't wait to start a family, but in due time."

During their visit to Ireland in July, the couple were asked by a woman in the crowd, "When are you going to have kids?" She continued, saying, "My husband also has red hair, and he gave me five children — when are you and Meghan going to get going?" Harry, always the good sport, replied "Five children? Too many!"

In 2016, Meghan opened up to Lifestyle magazine about her life, career, and future family. "I also dream to have a family," she explained. "It's all about balance, and I have so much happiness in my career and am fortunate to travel the world and see so many amazing things — it will also be nice to be anchored to something grounded and in the same place." She continued, saying that "Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that."

Babies were once again on everybody's mind when Harry and Meghan met with a couple that create innovative and hypoallergenic baby products during their trip to Northern Ireland. During the exchange with the creators, Sinead and Adam Murphy, Meghan said, whilst pointing at one of the items, "I'm sure at some point we'll need the whole thing."

Following the announcement that Meghan is pregnant, Sky News shared a clip from 2015 that shows Prince Harry talking about kids: "I don't think you can force these things, it will happen when it's going to happen. Of course, I'd love to have kids right now, but there's a process that one has to go through." He continued, saying "It would be great to have someone else next to me, but the time will come. Whatever happens, happens."

In April 2017, Prince Harry was a guest on The Telegraph's Mad World podcast, where he explained that he was "looking forward" to the possibility of becoming a dad, later adding, "I would love to have kids."
