9 Things We Already Know About The Walking Dead's Devastating Season Finale

There's already been rumblings of a potential cliffhanger in the finale that will show mega-villain Negan killing someone from a first-person perspective, and cutting off just before we find out which unlucky character is taking the fatal beating. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lauren Cohan (aka Maggie) all but confirmed those rumors. "It's the biggest finale I've ever seen in television," she said. "In any episode of TV, maybe barring the last episode of The Sopranos, but that's a different kind of fish. It's the cliff-hangerist episode."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cohan talked about her ghastly experience with the finale episode: "[Hearing] the word 'finale' gives me a physical reaction because it's the hardest day on set that I've ever had in my life. I never even imagined that as an actor you could have that experience. It's one of the most raw experiences that I think any of us have ever had . . . I didn't want to go to work that day. It took a really, really long time for everybody to feel okay again after the finale, let's put it that way."

Cohan also touched on the arrival of Negan during our own interview with her, saying that, when it comes to the show's villains, he's "the worst yet."

In the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lincoln (who plays Rick Grimes) had a lot to say as well: "I felt sick to my stomach when I read the script. It was the first day in the whole six years of working on The Walking Dead that I was late for work because I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn't get back to sleep . . . I was so angry and frustrated and I felt sick. And that was just after reading it."

The big bad Negan will make his grand entrance on the show's finale episode.

While we know next to nothing about Negan in the context of The Walking Dead's TV adaptation, we've gotten plenty of information about him from the comic book series. Negan notably bashes Glenn's head in with a baseball bat in the comics, forcing us to consider the possibility that he might meet the same fate on the show.

While Glenn is, of course, the character that dies in the comics, it doesn't mean he'll be the one to die on TV. In fact, Steven Yeun (who plays Glenn), made that much abundantly clear in his newest interview with EW. Many are speculating that everything from foreshadowing on the show to Cohan's recent hair change suggests that she's the one to go.

There are even more fans who think that neither Glenn nor Maggie will die at the hands of Negan. Instead, some posit that it's Daryl's time to go.

Melissa McBride — who plays Carol — has also spoken out about the visceral reaction she had to the season finale. In an interview with ComicBook.com, she made the following comment about the episode's script: "It was so very dark . . . I couldn't say anything after I had finished reading it. I felt like I had dropped into a blackhole."

That's right, the finale is a lot closer than you probably thought it was. Mark your calendars and buckle up; it's going to be a doozy.
