4 Characters Who Didn't Make It This Far in The Walking Dead's Comic Books

When it comes TV shows and movies that are based on books, the storylines, characters, and deaths are constantly at odds with the source material. This is especially true in the case of The Walking Dead; there have been well over 100 issues of the comic books, and more than six seasons of the show. As such, there's been plenty of comingling when it comes to the two: we're already seeing the mirrored storylines along the veins of our newest villain Negan, a newly broken Rick, and a grief-stricken Maggie. But as much as we're seeing similarities, there are plenty of differences. The most glaring among these are the biggest character deaths that never came to pass. In fact, a handful of characters that are currently in heavy rotation on the TV show should have left us a long time ago.

01
Carol Peletier
AMC

Carol Peletier

How she dies: Carol was supposed to perish way back when the crew was at the prison. In the comics, Carol and Tyreese are an item, but she gets her heart broken after catching Tyreese with Michonne. The breakup sends her into a downward spiral, and in light of a few more unfortunate circumstances, she more or less takes her own life. She allows a walker to bite her neck and urges everyone to leave her to die in peace. Andrea puts her out of commission just as she reanimates.

02
Morgan Jones
AMC

Morgan Jones

How he dies: Morgan is supposed to die when walkers overrun Alexandria. He gets bitten in the arm, but Michonne almost immediately amputates it before it can spread. Morgan gets taken to Denise for care, but he eventually dies anyway. Michonne kills him before he can turn into a walker.

03
Judith Grimes
AMC

Judith Grimes

How she dies: Yeah, so, Judith is sadly not with us by the time the group gets to Alexandria. As the Governor tries to take over way back during the group's time at the prison, Lori makes a run for it with Judith in her arms. They both are shot and killed, accidentally, by a character named Lilly.

04
Daryl Dixon
AMC

Daryl Dixon

How he dies: OK, well, this one is sort of an honorable mention. Daryl doesn't die in the comic books, but that's because he isn't in the comic books at all. So, technically, he's not with us at this point. It's a bit of a cheat, but worth mentioning, especially because Daryl might figure heavily into Carl's upcoming storyline with the Saviors.
