Hi, my name is Christina, and I'm obsessed with APL's TechLoom Phantom Running Shoes. I first spotted them when I started at POPSUGAR last year and fellow fitness editors raved about how much they loved them. I didn't think they would make that much of a difference in my workouts, but boy, was I wrong. As someone who does Orangetheory Fitness and Barry's Bootcamp regularly, both of which have about 30 minutes of treadmill work interspersed with about 30 minutes of weights and calisthenics, these are the perfect lightweight shoe to carry you through climbs, sprints, and jogs while also supporting your feet and form during the weights and floor exercises.
Previously, I purchased my shoes on APL's website, which is a nice website that's easy to navigate and the buying process was pretty straightforward. But I had to wait almost a week for the shoes to arrive, and I'm impatient! I also don't have a doorman, so I had to go to my local UPS facility to pick them up, and it was a whole thing.
Luckily, APL Women's TechLoom Phantom Running Shoes ($63-$165) are on Amazon Prime in 29(!!!) different colors — just check your size, because not all colors are available in all sizes. That means you can get these shoes with free two-day shipping (if you're a Prime member) and not have to wait around anxiously for a week or so like I did. And since Amazon packages are dropped in our lobby rather than the local UPS or FedEx facility, I can get them right away. Other APL models are also available on Amazon, including the TechLoom Bliss, TechLoom Breeze, and TechLoom Pro. There are also men's APL sneakers available.
Although some people say to size up a half-size on the TechLoom Phantoms, I wore my true size (7.5, which is what I wear in all other sneakers), and they fit perfectly. These shoes have already carried me through a couple Orangetheory and Barry's Bootcamp classes, and I noticed such a difference in my overall performance: my feet were lighter on the treadmill for the shorter runs, and I could steady myself and maintain proper form during the floor exercises. They also were a good option for the rowing machine in Orangetheory.
Although these are running shoes, they aren't ideal for longer-distance runs. But if you are looking for a versatile shoe to carry you through a fitness class or just want something cute to wear while out and about running errands, I can't recommend these APLs enough. Now that I know they are on Amazon, I'm going to have to stock up on several pairs in different colors — I'll just tell my husband all the Amazon boxes are filled with paper towels and contact solution we need.
