5 Ways to Use Leftover Juice Pulp

An easy way to use leftover vegetable pulp is to make homemade broth. Besides a hearty soup, a veggie broth can be used as a base in sauces, curries, stir-fries, and more. Store vegetable pulp in the freezer (along with any other veggie scraps or peels), and when you have a couple bags, make this recipe for vegetable broth. You can also use scraps to make a chicken broth, too.

Skip store-bought fruit leather and rolls, and use leftover pulp to make your own. For every one cup of fruit pulp you have, add one to two teaspoons of honey or agave syrup, then add water until you have the desired consistency. (Taste to make sure the recipe's sweetness is to your liking.) Put the fruit mixture in a dehydrator, or use this technique to dry in the oven.

When making things like meatloaf, burgers (veggie or meat), and meatballs, vegetable pulp from celery, carrots, or spinach comes in handy. Adding the leftover pulp adds extra fiber and moisture to the dish.

One of our favorite ways to use pulp from apples, carrots, and zucchini is for baked goods. Use pulp in standard recipes for things like apple muffins, zucchini bread, and carrot cake, or add to other baked goods to increase moisture — in many cases, you can even decrease the amount of oil a recipe calls for when using fruit pulp.

An easy way to add fiber to smoothies is to include a handful of juice pulp to your blend. The pulp bulks up the fiber in any of these smoothie recipes without affecting the taste.
