Less than a week after announcing their engagement, the pair visited Nottingham, England, on Dec. 1 for their first official appearance together. Aside from greeting the excited crowd, they also attended a charity fair for Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day.

4 Meghan's First Christmas at Sandringham

Meghan participated in her first Christmas with the royal family in December. Aside from attending Queen Elizabeth II's annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, she also joined the rest of the royals for a Christmas service at St. Mary Magdalene. And it seems like she hit it off with her soon-to-be-in-laws. According to Harry, her first royal Christmas was "fantastic" and his "family loved having her there."

5 Meghan's First Commonwealth Day Service

In March, Meghan joined the rest of the royal family as she attended a service at Westminster Abbey for Commonwealth Day.

For her royal wedding on May 19, Meghan borrowed a tiara from Queen Elizabeth II's jewelry vault. The diamond brooch in the middle was originally gifted to Princess Mary (before she became Queen Mary) in 1893.

On June 9, Meghan attended her first Trooping the Colour alongside the rest of the royal family as they celebrated Queen Elizabeth II's birthday. While Meghan and Harry rode behind the queen for the parade, she stood in the back during her Buckingham Palace balcony debut due to royal protocol.

In June, Meghan made her Royal Ascot debut as she attended the annual horse racing event alongside Prince Harry. Aside from riding in the carriage procession together, the pair made the trophy presentation for the fourth race of the day, the St. James's Palace Stakes.

11 Meghan's First Solo Project

In September, Kensington Palace revealed that Meghan is supporting a new charity cookbook called Together: Our Community Cookbook, which is "celebrating the power of cooking to strengthen communities." The book contains a foreword by Meghan along with 50 recipes from the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, a group of women in London who come together to cook food for their local community following the Grenfell Tower fire.

In honor of the release of Together: Our Community Cookbook, Meghan hosted a lunch at Kensington Palace in September. Not only was she joined by Prince Harry and her mother, Doria Ragland, but she also made her first speech as a royal during the event. Let's just say, Harry couldn't have looked more proud.
