Before you label Pippa Middleton's wedding as the social event of the season, there are many more lavish ceremonies to consider. There were brides who threw destination weddings in Morocco and Italy, brides who hosted weekend-long festivities, and an heiress who got married in a million-dollar wedding dress. These ladies might not have ties to royals, but they threw weddings Queen Elizabeth would likely approve of.
Because it's hard to keep track of who got married when, we rounded up 23 over-the-top nuptials you might have missed. If you thought Pippa's wedding gown was a dream, wait until you see these brides. They went all out, and they have the 'grams to prove it.
One of the most talked about weddings of the year was Pippa's. The bride wore a custom gown designed by her good friend Giles Deacon while her sister, Kate Middleton, wore a blush Alexander McQueen dress.
Serena Williams tied the knot with Alexis Ohanian in a supersecretive wedding ceremony and wore several outfits for her big day, including this seriously impressive Alexander McQueen wedding gown.
Danica Marinkovic married Prince Philip of Serbia in a Roksanda Ilincic gown, but we were most impressed by the regal crown she wore during the ceremony.
The blogger and Are You Am I creative director got married in a low-key ceremony in one of the sexiest wedding dresses we've seen. It had cold-shoulder details and a thigh-high slit to show off her silky ribbon heels.
This bride (who got married in Capri) wore three outfits for her wedding weekend, but her unexpected yellow bridal gown (a symbol for Brazil) took the cake. Cristina's haute couture Giambattista Valli number featured poufy sleeves and a high-low slit.
